Bishop Robert E. Farrow is a native of Kinston, NC and a graduate of Savannah High School. After graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Army and trained as a paratrooper. He served a three-year tenure in the 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg, NC. After his military tour, he made his home in Baltimore, MD. Desiring further heights in academic achievement Bishop Farrow enrolled in the Maryland Institute College of Art, Baltimore, MD, majoring in Interior Design.
Hearing and answering a higher call, he enrolled at the Maryland Theological Seminary & College, extension campus of (then) Virginia Seminary and College, Lynchburg, VA; and in 1976 satisfied course
requirements for a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theology. Continuing his aspirations, he earned his Master of Divinity degree in 1979 from the same school. In May 2024, Bishop Farrow was awarded an earned Doctor of Literature degree from Eastern Theological Seminary, Lynchburg, VA.
Bishop Farrow presently serves as Chancellor at Maryland Theological Seminary; the extension campus of Eastern Theological Seminary, Lynchburg, Virginia, where he also serves as Dean, Old Testament Studies for the past 28 years.
In 1972, he was elected to oversee the spiritual direction of Mt. Calvary Free Will Baptist Church, Baltimore, MD; adopting the theme “A Church Determined to Reconcile a Broken Community,” 2nd Corinthians 5:18. Bishop Farrow has sought to launch a ministry destined to bring that goal to fruition. His 50+ years of pastoral ministry has also presented him numerous opportunities to travel extensively throughout the United States and abroad. Observing his love for Kingdom Building, the Northeast Conference, comprised of Philadelphia, PA, Wilmington, DE, Baltimore, MD, and Washington, DC Free Will Baptist Churches, elected this man of vision to serve as its Presiding Bishop in 1999.
His wife of 41 years, Elder Jacqueline (Carrington) Farrow shares with him in leading the Mt. Calvary (FWB) Church & Ministries, Inc. They are the proud parents of four adult children — Devona, Janelle, Randall and Elder Marissa, and the blessed grandparents of eight.
More importantly, Bishop Farrow has responded to the Call of Christian ministry, and he is determined to preach a life-changing Gospel.
